Summer on the south branch

September 2010 - December 2010, Allegheny College

In this series I explored the beauty and the process of fishing.  I grew up spending a lot of time on rivers with my family where we would fish, swim, and enjoy the peace and solitude of nature.  Despite difficulty with scheduling around active lifestyles as I've grown, I always look forward to summer and disappearing to our secluded cabin in West Virginia.  Going to my cabin allows me to embrace a different type of lifestyle, separated from the internet, cell phone service, and cable access.  Entertainment on summer days at the cabin consists of the south branch Potomac river.  Here we can freely kayak, boat, and fish until our hands are sore.
With the use of bright, rich colors and energetic brush strokes, I hope my audience embraces an excitement for my subject matter, or at least recognizes my own personal passion for fishing and the outdoors.
