Creating a Painting

Most of my peers developed their technical skills following years of practice, studying, and guidance from experienced professors and mentors.  And the learning never ends!  One of the most helpful teaching moments for me was observing a professor work through her own personal process.  She intently observed a subject and over time blocked out shapes, colors, and values, progressively building an image out of a blank page.  Be still, look, appreciate what is in front of you.  Working realistically is about learning how to see.

Here are a few images of recent paintings as they progressed, always more to come, always more to improve.  Thank you for taking the time.
